M.I.High: from the makers of Spooks comes a new spy series for CBBC

Threats to British national security are at an all-time high. The old school spies have had their day and high-ranking MI9 agent, Lenny Bicknall (Danny John Jules, Red Dwarf) must find secure and untraceable identities for his officers.

His solution: to establish a ring of undercover agents in a place the enemy will never suspect - an inner city high school.

Following the success of their last children's series, the Emmy Award-winning The Magician's House, and the Bafta-winning Spooks, comes M.I. High - an original children's series from Kudos Film and Television for CBBC.

Jon East, Head of Drama, CBBC, said: "Filmed in High Definition, a first for CBBC, with jaw dropping stunts and hi-tech wizadry, M.I. High brings the quality of Spooks to a children's drama."

Stephen Garrett, Kudos' Joint MD, said: "Children are the most discriminating of audiences, so it's been a thrilling challenge for Kudos to create a fast-paced, fun and exciting high-quality spy drama for CBBC."

Newcomers Bel Powley, Moustafa Chousein-Oglou and Rachel Petladwala star as Daisy, Blane and Rose, highly-trained spies who juggle school work with saving the world from the villainous Grand Master and his mob of outlandish rogues.

Socialite Daisy is chosen for her chameleon-like skills, while scientific expert Rose has an IQ off the scale. Enigmatic Blane is unsurpassed in his athletic prowess and rapid response abilities.

But with the pressures of such a responsible job and the danger of discovery at school, will the spy team be able to protect Britain and hand their homework in on time?

The series also guest stars Robert Llewellyn, Rula Lenska, Alex Ferns and Steve Furst.

Created by Keith Brumpton, produced by Kerry Appleyard and executive produced by Stephen Garrett, Jon East and Natasha Dack.

A 10 x 30 minutes series due to transmit early 2007 on CBBC.

M.I. High will also be shown as part of the BBC's HD trial, available to viewers with HD services.

Notes to Editors

About BBC HD: High definition is a step change in television technology which provides far clearer and more detailed pictures than normal standard definition TV.

The BBC's HD programmes are accessible to viewers with all of the following - an HD Ready television set, a satellite or cable HD service, and an HD set top box. No extra subscription is required.

Due to last about 12 months, the trial will allow the BBC to test technical delivery of HD and also to find out how the audience values BBC HD programming.

More information about the trial can be seen at bbc.co.uk/hd.
