Comedy drama on BBC ONE
Lenny Henry in Berry's Way

Comedy dramas on BBC ONE

Introduction

Sarah Lancashire, Alan Davies, Lenny Henry, Sarah Parish and Ralph Ineson are just some of the big names who are starring in a run of five comedy drama singles to be shown on BBC ONE in September.

Peter Fincham, Controller, BBC ONE, says: "Comedy and drama are two key ingredients to the mix on BBC ONE, and bringing them together in this series of stand alone pieces provides us with a unique opportunity to bring some of the best talent in the business together for the enjoyment of our audience. I am excited about the fresh tone they will strike on the channel."

The run kicks off in Week 36 (early September) with Aftersun, written by David Nicholls (Much Ado about Nothing) and starring Sarah Parish and Peter Capaldi.

The other singles are:

The Good Housekeeping Guide, written by Tony Basgallop (Hotel Babylon) and starring Alan Davies, Michelle Gomez and Doon Mackichan;

Angel Cake, starring Sarah Lancashire, Rita Tushingham and Vicky Hall and written by Keith Temple;

Magnolia, from Dave Spikey (Phoenix Nights), starring Ralph Ineson, Chris Bisson, Chris Coghill, Dawn Steele and Mark Benton;

and Berry's Way, starring Lenny Henry and written by Kim Fuller with Lenny Henry.

More information on Berry's Way is to follow shortly.
