I'm With Stupid

Kevin Davies as Syd

I'm With Stupid by Danny Peak

Kevin Davids plays Syd

Syd lives at Bramble Lodge and, like many of the residents, is always being devious! He plans a poker game, although he makes sure that he only invites players who are likely to lose.

Kevin was born and raised in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. He has previously appeared in the BBC drama Faith, about the miners' strike.

A little known fact about Kevin is that he used to promote professional wrestling! He also sings in a band performing cover versions on the club circuit.

He says his forte is definitely singing: "I wouldn't know one end of a guitar from the other, but I do a mean tambourine!"

On his character Syd, Kevin says: "He is a modern day, over-the-hill, wannabe Fonz. He's somebody who thinks he's cool, dressed in leather, but he always ends up coming unstuck and is made to look a fool!

"Syd is quite a schemer; he always wants to get one-upmanship on Paul. He wants to show Paul who is top dog all the time and ends up with egg on his face. It's Dorothy who always comes out on top and puts both Syd and Paul in their place.

"If I'm With Stupid gets a second series, then we've got to start getting our own back on Dorothy!"

Kevin really enjoyed filming the series. He recalls one of his memorable moments: "Syd was up to one of his tricks again and he'd been trying to muscle in on one of the ladies that had come into the scene. He pretends to be Paul but she finds out.

"Whilst he is playing electronic battleships with Graham, she comes in and pours water over him and the machine. It blows up and there's smoke everywhere. The production team didn't warn us about the pyrotechnics. So the look of shock on our faces is genuine!"
