BBC WM has just clinched a deal with BBC Radio 2's Janice Long - starting in the New Year, Janice will present her own show every Saturday from 9.00am to noon.
Janice was the first female presenter on Top of the Pops and the first female to have her own daily show on BBC Radio 1.
After stints as a waitress, an air hostess and a grape picker, her broadcasting career kicked off with Radio Merseyside.
Janice has worked on a variety of television and radio shows since, and has been a mainstay of the Radio 2 schedule for nearly six years.
She says: "My radio career all started with BBC Local Radio and it's great to be coming back to my roots.
"Although I'm a Liverpudlian, I've been living with my family in Birmingham for over five years, and working here for even longer, so being offered my own show on BBC WM must mean I'm considered one of the locals!
"After listening to BBC WM for all these years, now I'll finally be able to contribute and get under the skin of local issues - I can't wait!"
Janice's show on BBC WM will feature extraordinary stories from ordinary people, topical discussion, plus a selection of her own music and chat around the week's issues.
Keith Beech, Editor, BBC WM says: "Janice is one of the country's top female presenters and I'm delighted she's joining us at BBC WM.
"I'm sure Janice's experience, enthusiasm and energy as a presenter will bring a great deal to our weekend programming and will really be a treat on the West Midland's dial."
Janice will continue to present her own music show every week night for Radio 2, which attracts big names such as The Rolling Stones, Paul Weller, Echo and the Bunny Men, the Dandy Warhols, Moby, Starsailor and Cornershop as well as brand new unsigned bands.
The Janice Long Show, BBC WM, 9.00am-noon, from Saturday 7 January on 95.6 FM.
