The BBC today announced that legendary actor Phil Daniels will be joining EastEnders from early 2006.
The Quadrophenia star will play Kevin Wicks, a charismatic family man who arrives in Walford in pursuit of his son Deano (Matt Di Angelo) who joins the show in December.
Kevin is a good hearted father who feels that now his children have grown up it is time for him to have a life of his own.
However, just as he is about to go and travel the world in pursuit of adventure, family problems bring his plans crashing down and send him to Albert Square instead.
Daniels said: "I am very happy to be joining the show especially as my mum is a big fan. I'm looking forward to the challenge of doing some quality mainstream TV."
Kate Harwood, Executive Producer, EastEnders, added: "Phil Daniels is an extraordinary talent, it is a real coup to have him join the show.
"The Wicks family is going to be a force to be reckoned in Walford next year."
