The first leg of Hibernian's bid to gain a place in the group stages of the UEFA Cup will be transmitted live by BBC Scotland.

The broadcaster has acquired the rights for live television and radio coverage, including simultaneous streaming of radio commentary, for the match against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk of the Ukraine.

The match at Easter Road on Thursday 15 September, which kicks off at 7.45pm, will be transmitted on BBC ONE Scotland.

BBC Scotland has also announced that Gordon Strachan's first foray as a manager into a domestic cup campaign will be shown live.

The broadcaster will transmit live Celtic's third round CIS tie against SPL new boys Falkirk on 21 September as part of an agreement to show a number of matches from the tournament.

The tie, which must produce a result on the night, will be shown on BBC ONE Scotland with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Falkirk manager John Hughes will be plotting an upset against his former club, while Gordon Strachan will be keen to make progress following an early season cup shock - the defeat by Artmedia Bratislava in the Champions League qualifiers.

News of the double live package is a further boost for armchair supporters in a run of live matches covered by BBC Scotland.

The broadcaster had live television and radio rights to both legs of Celtic's dramatic Champions League qualifier clash against Artmedia Bratislava and Rangers' decisive home game against Anorthosis Famagusta which secured a place in the group stages of the Champions League.

BBC Scotland will also have live coverage of the Norway v Scotland World Cup qualifier on 7 September from Oslo. The first half will be on BBC TWO Scotland from 5.45pm with second-half coverage on BBC ONE Scotland from 7.00pm.
