Atia of the Julii - Polly Walker

Rome - this autumn on BBC TWO

Atia of the Julii - Polly Walker

Niece of Caesar, mother of Octavia and Octavian. She is snobbish, willful and cunning, sexually voracious and totally amoral.

In a culture in which women are formally without any power, Atia is among the shadow rulers of Rome - women who have built powerful networks and alliances completely independent of the men's worlds while they are away for months and years on military campaigns.

Polly Walker first gained attention for her role as a terrorist in Patriot Games.

Her other film credits include Control, Savage Messiah, Curtain Call, 8 1/2 Women, After Alice, Dark Harbor, Talk of Angels, The Gambler, Robinson Crusoe, Emma, Restoration, Sliver, The Trial and Enchanted April.

Her television credits include the acclaimed State of Play for BBC ONE.
