Big George gets a taste for the great outdoors!

BBC Three Counties Radio presenter Big George is packing up his gas stove, sleeping bag, tent and microphone and camping his way around Buckinghamshire for a week of outside broadcasts beginning on Tuesday 30 August.

Big George is getting to grips with the outdoor life from a number of locations, pitching his tent from the north to the south of the county, presenting the Bucks Breakfast Show live from various settings close to their previous night's campsite.

Joining Big George in the great outdoors for a week are Three Counties producer Louise Gosling and reporter Lorna Milton.

As well as broadcasting the Bucks Breakfast Show en route, Big George and his team of intrepid explorers will also be doing live inserts into various Three Counties Radio shows.

The team is visiting the following places during the exciting expedition around the Buckinghamshire region: Winslow (Tuesday 30 August), Aylesbury (Wednesday 31 August), Bucks County Show in Weedon (Thursday 1 September) and High Wycombe Market (Friday 2 September).

Big George says: "The whole team have been in training for weeks, sleeping rough, digging holes a hundred paces from a source of water and eating cold beans from a tin.

"The three of us are looking forward to a cosy week in a regulation BBC tent and meeting many listeners and the odd sheep along the way!"

Three Counties Radio recently acquired two new transmitters for Buckinghamshire allowing the station to serve the area around High Wycombe and Aylesbury, which could previously only receive the station on medium wave.

The new transmitters began broadcasting in February and now reach a significant part of Buckinghamshire.

BBC Three Counties Radio broadcasts on 94.7 FM (Aylesbury and Central Bucks), 104.5 FM (Milton Keynes and North Bucks) and 98 FM (High Wycombe)
