Africa Lives On The BBC

Radio Five Live

The Alternative G8

Whilst the world's leaders discuss the major global issues of world poverty and the environment at the G8 summit, BBC Radio Five Live is creating an alternative summit.

Five Live will take eight listeners, each representing one of the G8 nations, to Umlazi - a township near Durban in South Africa that struggles with poverty and is hugely affected by HIV and Aids.

The delegates at the Alternative G8 summit will discuss the issues being raised at Gleneagles and will come to their own conclusions as to the best way of overcoming these worldwide problems.
