Family Nine: Behaviour
Sarah (28) and Kelsey (four) from Kent
Kelsey can be very demanding: unless she has her mother's
undivided attention, she will kick, shout, scream and punch.
She is in a state of permanent challenge with Sarah
and has become wary of her because of the constant negative interaction
between them.
Kelsey is fine at nursery; it is just with Sarah that
she plays up.
It upsets Sarah that Kelsey often tells her she hates
her.
Kelsey used to go to bed at 2.00am, but now goes down
fine at 9.00pm. However, if she is sent to bed before this, a
30-minute screaming fight will ensue, where she will
hit and kick Sarah.
Kelsey wakes up to three times a night and always demands
to get into bed with Sarah.
Sarah is a warm and chatty 28-year-old full-time mum
from Kent; she is very open and honest about the problem.
She used to be very relaxed and tolerant but lately
has found herself on the edge. She is very emotional but tries to hide
her feelings from Kelsey. However, she has broken down in front of Kelsey
in the past.
