Former Bill actor Billy Murray is set to join EastEnders in early 2005 to play Johnny Allen.

Johnny will be the boss of the bad boys, pure big league. He will make Andy Hunter look like small fry with his bold dealings.

Billy is best known for his character Don Beech, whom he played for eight years and later reprised in the special spin-off Beech On The Run.

Billy says of his new role: "It's great that I'm going to be part of one of the best shows on television.

"I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into the role."

Billy, 52, appeared in EastEnders back in 1991 when he played a crook who drove into the Square and crashed a car into The Arches.

He has over 30 years experience in the television industry playing parts in Dempsey And Makepeace, Rock Follies, Minder, Z Cars and many others.

His film credits include Up The Junction, Poor Cow, McVicar and Essex Boys.
