Matthew Bannister and Mishal Husain will present BBC TWO's unique news quiz, The Cram, the ultimate mental marathon that tests four contestants on the week's news.

Just how much can the human brain absorb and recount over a series of tests?

Matthew will report on the pressures facing the four contestants as they do just this within the study room as they prepare for the gruelling test presented each evening by question master Mishal Husain.

Matthew Bannister says: "I'm very excited to be involved in TV's first ever daily news quiz.

"No show before has tested the contestants' knowledge of the most topical current events and it's a real challenge for all of us, the contestants, presenters and production team.

"It'll be fascinating to watch how the contestants tackle the cramming.

"The Cram will probably have more facts than the average news bulletin, not only will it be a challenging quiz for the contestants, but it'll be a fun way to keep up to date with what's going on in the world."

Matthew Bannister is a former Chief Executive of BBC Production and was also BBC Director of Radio and Director of Marketing and Communication.

As controller of BBC Radio 1 (1993-1998) he re-positioned the network for a younger audience by focussing on new music and talent.

He launched and managed BBC GLR and was Head of News and Talks at London's Capital Radio.

Matthew Bannister currently presents the late night news and current affairs show on BBC Radio Five Live.

Mishal Husain anchors BBC America's evening newscasts and is currently standing in on BBC Breakfast news.

She is also the Washington Correspondent for BBC News.

Mishal joined the BBC in 1988 as a Producer at BBC World and moved to the specialist Economics and Business Unit.

She co-anchored BBC World's World Business Report and moved to the main news on BBC World in 2001.
