Ric Blaxill
is to become Head of Programmes, BBC 6 Music.
Ric, currently Group Creative Director at Capital Radio, is
to take on the role in the next few months.
Ric says: "I am delighted to be joining the 6 Music
team. The station has been blazing a great path for DAB and for music
radio.
"It has a talented team of presenters and producers
and a very special music policy that celebrates heritage and champions
new music.
"The opportunity to join 6 Music at such a progressive
time for the station and for DAB is very, very exciting."
Lesley Douglas, Controller BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music,
says: "I am delighted to announce that Ric Blaxill will be the
new Head of Programmes for 6 Music.
"He has a great breadth of experience in both the
music and the broadcasting industries and his experience will benefit
the network.

team and I am confident that Ric will help steer it to the next stage
of its development."
Ric has worked in music production across radio and
TV for 18 years both in the BBC and in commercial environments.
He is currently Group Creative Director at Capital Radio
Group having originally joined as Programme Controller of 95.8 Capital
FM.
His employment history includes:
March 2001 - December 2001, Series Producer for The
Pop Years for LWT/Sky, a music documentary series focusing on key years
in music between 1980 and 1999;
January 2000 - February 2001, Creative Director, Stormlive
Digital and internet Radio;
January 1998 - December 2000, Development and Series
Producer for SMTV Live and CDUK with Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley; Development
and Series Producer for Friday Night's All Wright with Ian Wright;
January 1997 - December 1997, A&R Director for Independiente
Records;
1994 - 1997, Producer and Executive Producer, BBC ONE's
Top of the Pops;
1988 - 1994, Producer/Senior Producer BBC Radio 1.
