BBC wins at RTS Craft & Design Awards and Grierson documentary awards


The BBC triumphed at awards ceremonies yesterday (Monday 17 November), taking home a host of accolades at both the Royal Television Society Craft and Design Awards and the Grierson Awards.


The BBC won more than half of the RTS Craft and Design Awards, which celebrate the work of professionals behind the scenes in programme production.


Sixteen out of 27 awards went to BBC programmes - for best sound, production design, music, lighting, photography, camera, costume design, visual effects, make up, graphic design and innovation.


BBC programmes also won six out of 11 awards at Grierson 2003 - The British Documentary Awards, which recognise the best in the genre in the UK.


These included Best Documentary on a Contemporary Issue, BMGZomba Award for Best Documentary on the Arts, Best Historical Documentary, International Documentary and Best Newcomer.


BBC FOUR was nominated for 11 Grierson Awards and won four - an outstanding achievement for a new digital channel.


The British Documentary Awards will be shown on BBC FOUR tonight (Tuesday 18 November) at 9.00pm.
