HARDtalk with Dr Imran Waheed

Dr Imran Waheed, representative of Hizb Ut Tahrir, is interviewed by Tim Sebastian on BBC News 24's HARDtalk tonight.

Banned in Germany, Holland and many Middle Eastern states, Hizb Ut Tahrir is seeking the establishment of what they call the true Islamic state.

Freeing Muslim lands from corrupt leaders and Western capitalism is their first priority. Their political vision exists within a literal interpretation of the Koran.

In the past they have compared themselves to the French resistance, but mainstream British Muslims say their ideas are dangerous and their goals ludicrous.

As the people of Istanbul try to come to terms with the weekend's double suicide bombing, Tim Sebastian invites Hizb Ut Tahrir's British representative to condemn this action.

HARDtalk is on BBC News 24 at 11.30pm today (Tuesday 18 November 2003).

All the BBC's digital services are now available on Freeview, the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well as on satellite and cable.
