Children
In Need on BBC Radio 2
BBC
Radio 2 kicks off this year's BBC Children In Need Appeal with the
Wake Up To Wogan Auction and the annual Music
Marathon.
From
Monday 17 to Thursday 20 November, Terry Wogan gets to grips with
his gavel to kick off the appeal on BBC Radio 2 in another hotly
anticipated Wake Up To Wogan Auction.
Under
the hammer this year are fantastic, 'money-can't-buy' lots –
from extreme trips to destinations at the far ends of the Earth,
to close encounters with top celebrities and sportsmen.
There
are also opportunities for listeners to try their hand at some of
Britain's top jobs and to wander down the fairway for the perennially
popular round of golf with Terry himself.
The
auction takes place between 8.00 and 8.30am during Terry's regular
breakfast show, for which he is joined by regular Children In Need
auctioneer, Paul Viney.
From
7.00pm on Thursday 20 November, the BBC Children In Need 2003 Music
Marathon takes over Radio 2 for a mammoth 24-hour, live money-raising
effort.
Listeners
can donate money in return for a record request or dedication. As
part of the marathon, Ronan Keating performs a live session from
BBC Maida Vale during the Ken Bruce Show (9.30am-noon) – and
listeners can pledge money to hear their favourite of his songs.
Full
details of these programmes can be found on a special Radio 2 website
at www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/cin03.
