In Need - BBC Radio and TV in the Nations & Regions
Here's
just a taster of the huge number of events and shows across the
BBC's Nations and Regions this year . . .
In
BBC Scotland, Jackie Bird will
be joined by pop sensation David Sneddon to host
the Children In Need night. They will be welcoming fundraisers and
celebrities into the studios for an unforgettable evening. Special
guests include Gareth Gates.
Westlife,
Simply Red and Girls Aloud headline
a massive concert in Belfast's Odyssey Arena for
BBC Children In Need on Friday 21 November. Tickets
for the mega-gig were snapped up within hours.
Meanwhile
BBC Northern Ireland presenters will be meeting
up with local fundraisers. BBC Radio Ulster will
be joining in the fun on the day too, presenting shows live from
Belfast's Odyssey Pavilion and Studio One, Broadcasting House.
Ex-Tiswas
favourite Sally James, presents her afternoon show
on BBC WM live from BBC Birmingham's new home at
the Mailbox with the phantom flan flinger making a special appearance!
BBC
Guernsey is challenging BBC Children In Need supporters
to 'place their bets' on the big night when their studios will turn
into a casino. Up to two hundred punters can buy a stack of chips
at the start of the evening then stake everything on the turn of
a Black Jack card or a spin of the roulette wheel to win millions
. . . on paper!
At
the end of the night, the player with the most chips stands to win
a fabulous holiday for four in Las Vegas donated by a Channel Island
company.
BBC
Radio Gloucestershire will be live with Pudsey throughout
the day from an Asda store in Gloucester. A number of celebrities,
including Eddie the Eagle Edwards and local MP
Parmjit Dhanda, will be operating the check-outs
in the store.
Roving
reporters will be out and about at events in the county and then
live from Cirencester in the evening where Liz Hurley
is turning on the Christmas lights and BBC Radio Gloucestershire
will be collecting for the charity.
Reporters
from BBC Radio Devon will be all over the county
sampling the flavour of fundraising efforts in the South West.
Sarah
Gorrell's evening show will come live from the studios
in Plymouth between 7.00 and 10.00pm where, joined by reporters
in Devon, Cornwall and on Jersey, the BBC will be collecting donations
and keeping up-to-date with the money coming into their pledgeline
headquarters.
BBC
Radio Cleveland will be broadcasting a special show live
from Stockton's Kingdom of Ice. Between 7.00 and 9.00pm, amidst
the street entertainers, live music, fairground rides and festive
market stalls, John Foster will be presenting and
meeting some of the locals.
BBC
Radio Derby presenter Russell Walker-Brown will
be broadcasting his Lunchtime Show from Burton College's Innovations
hair salon where he
will be having his hair done by students.
At
BBC Birmingham's new home in The Mailbox
activities will include
