Children
In Need - the charity
Few
people know that this well-loved charity deals with some of the
UK's most severe social problems every year.
Children
helped by the charity include those affected by issues such as homelessness,
HIV, sexual abuse and drug addiction.
A grant
from the charity could pay for anything from a qualified counsellor
or piece of equipment (for a disabled child, for example), to a
specially designed programme that could, quite literally, change
the course of a child's life. This could be a scheme to get
homeless youngsters off the streets, or one that would help a group
of deprived children from the inner cities achieve better results
at school.
Every
single penny of your donation goes to an organisation that helps
children - all the charity's overheads are paid for through the
interest earned on the money raised - therefore, if you donate £5,
a project will get the full £5.
