BBC
to broadcast Calendar Girls in Buena Vista International Television
feature film deal
Buena
Vista International Television (BVITV), the TV distribution arm
of the Walt Disney Company, has licensed the hit comedy Calendar
Girls to the BBC, as part of a substantial movie deal.
The
package of over 100 titles gives the BBC exclusive UK free TV rights
to a collection of top family entertainment, box-office successes
and critically-acclaimed titles from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone
Pictures and Miramax Films.
Key
titles included in the deal are:
Oscar®-winning
Chicago, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger
and Richard Gere;
The
international box-office success Pirates of the Caribbean: The
Curse of the Black Pearl, starring Johnny Depp;
Stephen
Daldry's critically-acclaimed The Hours, starring Nicole
Kidman;
The
eagerly-anticipated Cold Mountain, from award-winning director
Anthony Minghella, starring Jude Law and Nicole Kidman;
Library
titles including The English Patient and Hitchcock classic
Rebecca.

The
films will be broadcast across the BBC's channels from the end of
2004.
