Sporting
stars' acting debut in Trevor's World Of Sport
Soccer
stars Robbie Keane and Graeme Le Saux make their acting debuts in
the new BBC ONE comedy Trevor's World Of Sport (starts Friday 15
August at 9.30pm).
The
two sporting heroes pitch up at a dinner party where they get more
attention than they bargained for.
Sports
agent Trevor Heslop (Neil Pearson) despairs as his unscrupulous
business partner Sammy Dobbs (Paul Reynolds) tries to poach the
players from their agents.
Sammy
is keen to bag a star as huge as Keane, who last year quit Leeds
United and was snapped up by Spurs. In 2002, the Dubliner was a
star of Ireland's World Cup campaign.
Acting
is a first for the quick-footed, quick-thinking striker.
Says
Keane: "I had a great time during the time I was on set. It
was a completely different experience for me and one I'd like to
repeat at some stage.
"I
didn't exactly have many lines compared to the real actors. I thought
I did OK but I don't expect EastEnders to be ringing me for a cameo!"
Sammy
tries to convince Trevor that Chelsea defender Le Saux is just the
type of client their agency needs: "Come on Trev, he's an intelligent
footballer, how many of those are there?"
Despite
being collared by Sammy, Le Saux says he enjoyed his first taste
of acting: "It was the first time I'd done something like this.
It was totally different from being on a football pitch... and you
never know, it might be a new career for me!
"It
was a great experience working with Neil Pearson and the rest of
the cast. I'd love to do more acting in future."
