Workers across the globe compare experiences in BBC's All in a Day's Work

How would the job of a therapist in Sierra Leone compare to that of a therapist in Buenos Aires?

All in a Day's Work from 14 May 2003 investigates. Each week three professionals, with similar jobs but from different parts of the world, share their experiences.

Through audio diaries their lives are woven together, compared and contrasted to give a fascinating insight into the similarities and differences between their countries, their professions and themselves.

The four-part series will feature taxi drivers in London, Johannesburg and Trinidad; mental health workers in Sierra Leone, Bombay and Buenos Aries; prison officers from Kazakhstan, Kenya and the United States and journalists from Malaysia, Melbourne and Belgrade.

Dr Edward Nahim is the only psychiatrist in Sierra Leone, a country of more than five million.

Every day he sees an average of 50 people. By contrast, in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires, there are more mental health workers than almost everywhere else in the world.

Cabbies from different corners of the globe share experiences of keeping safe with a stranger in the car.

Reporters from far and wide discuss how they cope with witnessing the vicious carnage of military conflict and disaster and prison officers compare the routines, challenges and tribulations of their working life, including death row in the US.

All in a Day's Work focusses on the remarkable stories of people's everyday lives and reveals how much our jobs tell us about how our communities work.
