HARDtalk: Peter Shaw

On BBC News 24's HARDtalk tonight (Friday 6 December), Sarah Montague interviews Peter Shaw, British hostage in Georgia.

British businessman, Peter Shaw, had been working as a banker in Tiblisi for six years.

Driving home from work on what was meant to be his last day in Georgia before flying home to a new life back in Britain, he was stopped by what appeared to be the police.

He thought it was just a routine check. But it wasn't.

What ensued involved him being held hostage for four months, and spending two months of it in a hole in the ground, chained by his neck to a wall and unable to stand.

He escaped as he was being led out and, he thinks, about to be shot. He talks to Sarah Montague.

Notes to Editors

HARDtalk is broadcast on BBC News 24, Monday to Friday at 10.30pm, and is repeated Tuesday to Saturday at 2.30am.
