Pinter
at the BBC from the end of October
Pinteresque pin-ter-esk', adj. in the style of the characters,
situations, etc., of the plays of Harold Pinter, 20th-cent. English
dramatist, marked esp. by halting dialogue, uncertainty of identity,
and air of menace.
Oxford English Dictionary
"I loved words as a child, and that excitement has remained
with me all my life. I still feel as excited as I ever did about
words on a page and about the blank piece of paper and the words
that might fill it."
Harold Pinter
"Harold Pinter is
a cricketer, a defender of human
rights, a passionate polemicist, a playwright of rare power and
profound originality, a lucid director and an actor who always surprises
and never disappoints."
Richard Eyre
Pinter at the BBC broadcasts this October across BBC TWO, BBC
FOUR, BBC Radio and BBCi.
The
centrepiece of the season is a two-part special from Arena on BBC
TWO.
To
complement this, BBC FOUR broadcasts an extensive season of Pinter's
plays, films and talks - both archive and newly filmed works exclusive
to the channel, including The Dwarfs by BBC Fictionlab.
