A Celebration of the life of Christopher Price
Friends,
family, celebrities and fans celebrated the life of Liquid News
presenter Christopher Price today (Sautrday 25 May 2002) in an affectionate
event timed to coincide with the Eurovision Song Contest.
Had
he lived, Christopher would have fulfilled a lifelong ambition today
by hosting BBC Choice's Eurovision coverage.
Former
Eurovision contestant Nikki French, chart toppers Liberty X, Adam
Rickitt and Patti Boulaye were among those performing or reading
at Mezzo, Soho, central London.
Christopher
died suddenly at home last month aged 34.
He
was a rising star of BBC Choice as the anchor of its nightly showbusiness
news programme Liquid News, which also went out in a weekly version
on BBC TWO.
Obviously
unable to attend, England's 2002 Eurovision contender Jessica Garlick
sent a specially recorded video tribute. So did Kylie Minogue, Eurovision
double winner Johnny Logan, Christopher's Song for Europe co-presenter
Claire Sweeney, A1, Atomic Kitten, Mis-teeq, Big Brother's Brian
Dowling and Royle Family actor Ralf Little.
Christopher's
boss Stuart Murphy, Controller of BBC Choice, and his Liquid News
colleagues Chris Wilson, Robert Nisbet (now at the Six O'Clock News)
and Stephanie West spoke about the Christopher they knew, and there
were contributions from comedians Emma Kennedy, Robin Ince and Julia
Morris who were frequent guests on the show.
A
compilation of Christopher's finest Liquid News moments was shown.
