New series of The Kumars at No. 42 on BBC Choice

The hit BBC TWO comedy The Kumars at No. 42 comes to BBC Choice with the second series premiering on the channel beginning on Sunday 28 April. Two programmes a week will be shown on the channel, every Sunday and Tuesday at 9.00pm.

The Kumars are like any other family on the surface, sharing a house are son Sanjeev (Sanjeev Bhaskar), granny Sushila (Meera Syal), mum Madhuri (Indira Joshi) and dad Ashwin (Vincent Ebrahim). Sanjeev doesn’t always find it convenient living with his family, however, because he is a professional chat-show host who films his weekly show in a studio attached to the house.

Each week the guests arrive and have to run the gauntlet of the Kumars, not only by going through the house to get to the studio but also by being subjected to interrogation in the studio from mum, dad and granny. In all the chaos Sanjeev tries to keep order and occasionally ask the odd question himself.

Sanjeev welcomes Ray Winstone and Laurence Llewelyn Bowen to No. 42Following on from the success of the first series which attracted ‘A’ list celebrities an equally impressive list is lined up for the second series. The guests are Ray Winstone, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Melvyn Bragg, Jerry Hall, Richard & Judy, Lorraine Kelly, Barbara Windsor, Adam Woodyatt, Patsy Palmer, Ismail Merchant, Helena Bonham Carter, Stephen Fry, Lesley Garrett, Ulrika Jonsson, Antony Worral Thompson, Charlotte Church, Martin Kemp, Wendy Richard, John Sergeant, Nigel Havers and Ronan Keating.

The Kumars at No. 42 is produced by Sharat Sardana, Richard Pinto and Lissa Evans who also directed the show. The executive producers are Denise O’Donoghue and Jimmy Mulville. It is a Hat Trick production for the BBC.

The new series will be shown on BBC TWO at the end of May.
