Viewers vote for their favourite Top of the Pops performances

Viewers of TOTP2 have voted Duran Duran’s Rio as the best Top of the Pops performance of all time. In second place was Madonna with Like A Virgin and Queen’s Killer Queen was third.

Thousands of viewers voted for their favourite performances by email, post and on the Top of the Pops website as part of celebrations to mark the 250th edition of TOTP2. These performances will be played in reverse order on the 2 and 3 April at 7.05pm.

Producer of TOTP2, Mark Hagen, said: "I’ve been amazed at the response to this poll and the breadth of taste is remarkable. It’s interesting that the superstars of the 80’s have triumphed over acts like The Beatles and the Stones!"
