TV’s Best Moments of 2001 Honoured

TV’s best moments of 2001 were revealed tonight (Saturday 16 March) in BBC ONE’s live award show, 2001 TV Moments.

Host Michael Parkinson also invited viewers to choose from these moments for their overall Golden Moment of 2001 which will not be known until 10.30pm on Saturday night.

The winners from across the channels, voted for by an industry panel of judges, were:

· Best Factual Moment was given to Ed Devlin, a burger van chef who, in Channel 4’s Faking It, convinced three judges that he was a professional chef.
· Best Sporting Moment went to David Beckham for his free kick, taken in the last minute of extra time, at the England v Greece World Cup qualifier.
· Best Soap Moment went to Steve McFadden for the EastEnders shooting of Phil Mitchell storyline on BBC ONE.
· ITV’s Cold Feet was awarded Best Dramatic Moment. Jo’s father turns up demanding to know what’s going on, when he catches Karen, Pete and David swimming in the pool of his house. Pete no knowing who he is reveals himself to his future father-in-law for the first time-completely naked.
· Best Comedy Moment was awarded to BBC TWO’s The Office. David Brent (Ricky Gervais) tells the office that the Swindon branch is taking over the Slough branch, which means relocation and redundancies for them but at least he has got a promotion to Head Office.
