Simon
MacCorkindale makes his return to British tv on BBC ONEs
top-rated medical drama, Casualty. Having appeared in and produced
numerous films and tv dramas in the US he will become the new
consultant, Harry Harper.
Simon says: Ive always been a fan of Casualty and its
great to be joining such an established show with a great bunch of
people. Having spent so much of the last 15 years working abroad,
Im really pleased to be back filming on home turf particularly
since weve just moved to the South West and Casualty is Bristol
based.
Coming into the public eye in Death On The Nile in the late seventies,
he went on to his own series Manimal in 1983 playing Professor Jonathan
Chase. He played Greg Reardon in Falcon Crest from 1984-1986 and
also directed a number of episodes. From 1990-92 he starred in and
co-produced 66 episodes of Counterstrike with Christopher Plummer
in Toronto and Paris. Most recently he has been producing, writing
and developing projects including the award winning movie Such A
Long Journey and the tv series Relic Hunter.
Executive producer Mal Young says: Simon is an instantly recognisable
face which viewers will relish seeing on Casualty. His track record
is incredibly varied and were thrilled he is joining the cast.
New characters always add another dimension to the show and we hope
viewers will enjoy watching where we take Harry and his impact on
the emergency department.
Simons first episode will transmit on Saturday 18 May at 8.10pm.
