Big
Brothers Anna Nolan gets her very own
BBC series
Anna Nolan, the lesbian ex nun from the first
Big Brother, has been given her very own documentary
series: Anna In Wonderland (6x30) on BBC
CHOICE. In her first solo presenting job, Anna
travels around the world visiting weird and
wonderful people in a cross between Whickers
World and Louis Therouxs Weird Weekends
style series of documentaries.
In
the first programme Anna joins the female rock
band and sex commune that is Rock Bitch. Rock
Bitch are based in east London and see their
aim in life is to make people more sexually
aware. Not only does she have a slightly uneasy
night in the bands dormitory she actually takes
part in one of their gigs. Looking just the
part in a black leather corset, Anna strums
away at her guitar while the rest of the band
carry out more unconventional dance moves! The
night is drawn to a close with the Golden
Condom Award. The condom is thrown into
the audience and the lucky winner gets, what
sounds like, a very strenuous romp with Rock
Bitch back stage.
In
Gay Conversion Anna meets a group of Christians
in the States that swear on the Bible that they
can straighten gays out. Richard, who was gay
for many years and now claims to be "cured",
gives Anna a dose of his therapy, Anna is told
to let out the repressed anger that is inside
her by hitting a pillow with a tennis racket
and shouting Mum. Needless to say, the therapy
was not successful.
Anna
also meets characters such as the Furries, a
group of people in the USA who believe that
they have an animal inside them. Bear and Wabbit
explain that yiffing is their word
for petting and sex and ask Anna to join them
in a group yiff otherwise known
as a fur pile.
In
the USA, Anna takes a look at the world of female
wrestling and in Melbourne, where prostitution
is legal, Anna hooks up with some male prostitutes
and their long suffering girlfriends. Back in
the UK, in Psychics, Terri who specialises in
Clairvoyant Dating describes the
man that will sweep Anna off her feet, failing
to unearth that she is gay.
Anna
In Wonderland is a BBC Factual Production for
BBC Choice, starting 22 March @ 9.30pm
