BBC
appoints Head of Training
Nigel Paine has been appointed to the new position
of Head of Training at the BBC, leading the
development and provision of the BBCs
internal and external training and development
services.
He
will develop learning experiences designed to
equip individuals with the skills needed for
their roles now and in the future, exploiting
a wide range of learning opportunities in creative
and innovative ways and strengthening the BBCs
culture of learning.
Stephen
Dando, Head of Human Resources and Internal
Communications said: "I am confident that
Nigel has the drive and vision to take BBC Training
forward in the new era of broadcasting. He brings
to us a wealth of experience in the field of
training and development, having worked in both
the public and private sector. As he would say
himself, training is in his blood."
Nigel
Paine said: "I believe passionately in
investing in people and that an individuals
skills and personal development should be valued.
I am looking forward to taking on one of the
most challenging and exciting training and development
jobs in the world, particularly at a time when
learning and technology are imperative in the
age of digital broadcasting."
Currently
Director of Science Year, an initiative managed
by The National Endowment of Science, Technology
and the Arts (NESTA) on behalf of the Department
of Education and Skills, Nigel has wide ranging
experience in the field of adult learning, with
particular expertise in learning technology.
This
is the first of three senior appointments across
Development and Training at the BBC as part
of a restructure of the department.
