Have I Got News For You is now in its 37th series and has been running since 29 September 1990. It started on BBC Two then transferred to BBC One in October 2000
The first episode of Series 37 will be the 111th show hosted by a guest presenter in the six-and-a-half years since Angus Deayton left in October 2002
Only six people have appeared as a panellist after appearing as a guest host: Paul Merton, Jeremy Clarkson, Liza Tarbuck, Marcus Brigstocke, Jimmy Carr and Charles Kennedy
To date, Alexander Armstrong has guest hosted the show the most – this series will see his 14th appearance
Kirsty Young, Jeremy Clarkson and Jack Dee have been guest host seven times each and Boris Johnson and Dara O'Briain four times
Will Self and Germaine Greer have been on the show nine times; Clive Anderson, Kirsty Young, Ross Noble, Charles Kennedy and Ken Livingstone have appeared on the show eight times; and Danny Baker, Dr Phil Hammond and Boris Johnson seven times
A highlight of series 36 was seeing two former mayors on the show – guest host Jerry Springer, former mayor of Cincinatti, and guest Ken Livingstone
The show regularly attracts a weekly audience of nine million viewers including the extended repeat which has an extra ten minutes of footage
Paul Merton missed a show in series 36 due to illness and was replaced for the evening by Frank Skinner. Ian Hislop is the only person to have appeared in every episode, despite suffering from a burst appendix shortly before one edition and having to go to hospital immediately afterwards
