Sarah joined the BBC in 1986 and has worked extensively in new business development.
Sarah has direct responsibility for key corporate-wide projects including The Marketing Review, the development of Brand Strategy and the Company’s impending relocation, and deputises for CEO, John Smith in his absence.
She also has responsibility for the negotiation of major acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships; the provision of legal expertise and deal-making effort across the BBC Worldwide group – rights acquisition; rights strategy and management; regulatory and fair trading compliance; brand protection; and programme investment.
She has held a variety of different posts including Head of Business Affairs for the then fledgling BBC International News Channel (now BBC World), and Director of Commercial Affairs for the newly formed BBC Worldwide.
Sarah was one of the principal architects and the lead negotiator for BBC Worldwide's highly successful partnership with Discovery Communications Inc. and has played a central role in the establishment of all the company's joint ventures.
Sarah joined the Board of BBC Worldwide, as Director of Business Affairs in March 2000.
