David Moody

David Moody

Managing Director, BBC Worldwide Digital Media and Director of Strategy


David Moody is Director of Strategy and Managing Director Digital Media, BBC Worldwide. He joined the BBC Worldwide board in 2004.

David's role is divided between addressing the ongoing strategic direction of BBC Worldwide and overseeing the various businesses within the Digital Media division.

Digital Media has three main areas of business activity. These consist of developing and running websites including bbc.com, the international version of the BBC's website outside of the UK, and syndicating digital video content to a range of international customers through deals with companies such as Apple iTunes and YouTube.

BBC Motion Gallery, the BBC's archive clip licensing business, also sits within the Digital Media business.

David joined the BBC in 2002 as Commercial Director for BBC Ventures Group, the area dedicated to commercial media services, BBC Broadcast, BBC Resources and Kingswood Ventures.

During this time, he led for the BBC the sale of BBC Technology, part of the outsourcing deal with Siemens. He also managed the BBC's Commercial Review under the overall leadership of Chief Executive John Smith.

Before joining the BBC, David was co-founder and Finance Director of Dataroam, a wireless application service provider specialising in providing mobile workforce solutions.

Prior to this David held roles as Group Development Manager at United News and Media PLC working for Chief Executive Clive Hollick, and Director of Business Planning at Singapore Telecom International Europe, working in the UK and European cable and telecoms industries.

David began his career at the LEK Partnership, the strategy consulting firm. He has a first class degree in Modern History from Magdalen College, Oxford and conducted post-graduate research at the London School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies.
