Will Glennon is a presenter and reporter for BBC West's regional news
programme Points West and is the main presenter for the 8.00pm bulletin.
Will joined BBC West as a trainee in 1998 and since then has become a
regular face presenting and reporting stories right across the region,
including the devastating floods in Gloucestershire.
About being the presenter for the 8.00pm bulletin he says: "It's high pressure
because it's in peak time on BBC One with a large audience watching and in
a short broadcast there's no time for mistakes.
"As a presenter you have to
stay calm and focussed and you have to keep looking comfortable. The key is
to have plenty of rehearsals before going live!"
Will is from Newport in South Wales and his first broadcasting job was
reporting on a radio station in the south of France.
After a summer there,
he headed back to begin his BBC career at Radio Wales in Cardiff. It wasn't
long though before he was tempted across the Severn Bridge to Bristol.
"The West is a terrific area to live and work in and I've always felt at
home here. Bristol and Bath are vibrant historic cities and the countryside
of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire is beautiful too," he says.
In his free time Will is a keen sportsman. He enjoys running, takes part in
many local races, including the Bristol Half Marathon, and he completed the
New York Marathon in 2005.
He also enjoys mountain biking and snowboarding.
He says: "I love getting outdoors and if you want to shake off the stresses
of the working week, it's hard to beat getting stuck into active sport."
