Nick Patten manages the Birmingham and Manchester Factual departments, overseeing a range of programmes and series including from Birmingham: Coast; Trawlermen; Countryfile; Chelsea Flower Show; Gardeners' World; Hairy Bakers; The Satanic Verses Affair; Points Of View; Country Tracks; To Buy Or Not to Buy; and The Sky At Night.
The Manchester Religion & Ethics department's titles include Songs Of Praise; Around The World In 80 Faiths; Life At Helen House; Extreme Pilgrim and the upcoming series History Of Christianity; Aled Jones' Good Morning Sunday for BBC Radio 2; and The Moral Maze, Beyond Belief, The Choice, as well as the high-profile Thought For The Day, for BBC Radio 4.
Before taking up his Birmingham post in 2006, Nick was an executive producer at BBC Birmingham, responsible for much of BBC Two's gardening output including Gardeners' World, Christine's Garden, Grow Your Own Veg, Around The World In 80 Gardens, Gardener Of The Year and RHS Tatton.
He also executive produced formatted documentaries such as How I Made My Property Fortune for BBC Two, All The Queen's Cooks and Points Of View for BBC One, and To Buy Or Not To Buy for Daytime.
Nick spent the first half of his career producing and directing a number of high-profile series for BBC Two, including Chelsea Flower Show and Gardens By Design, before moving into Daytime where he was a producer on Daytime Live and Good Morning With Anne & Nick.
Before returning to the BBC Nick worked for Mentorn Films, looking after the company's daytime output, and ran his own production company for nine years, winning a string of commissions for the BBC and Channel Five, including a number of travel and cookery shows with TV chef Keith Floyd, such as Capital Floyd, Floyd Uncorked and Floyd's India.
