Adam Kemp has been the BBC's Commissioner for Arts, Music, Performance and Religion since 2005. He is responsible for programming these genres on all four television networks from in-house suppliers. Previously, as a Specialist Factual Commissioner, he initiated several BBC landmark series.
Adam has executive produced more than 80 BBC Factual series and specials including: the Emmy and BAFTA-award winning Walking With Dinosaurs specials; George Orwell: A Life In Pictures; Christopher Reeve; Killing Hitler; Elephants: Spy In The Herd; Two Fat Ladies; Century Road; Children Of Crime; Country Parish; Animal Games; Space Odyssey – Voyage To The Planets.
After six years as an independent producer making investigative documentaries, he joined as the BBC's newly created Factual Independent Commissioning Executive in 1994 and was made Acting Head in 1996.
He later gained channel experience working as Editorial Executive, BBC One, deputising for Peter Salmon.
In 2004 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of BAFTA's TV Committee.
Recent commissions include: Manchester Passion; Liverpool Nativity; Seven Ages Of Rock; Genius Of Photography; Pop and Soul Britannia; Honour Kills; Story Of God; Extreme Pilgrim and How We Built Britain.
