Lucy Richer joined the BBC in January 2005 as joint Head of Independent Drama alongside John Yorke, following three years at Channel 4 as Commissioning Editor before promotion to deputy Head of Drama.
Lucy was responsible for shows including Bafta, RTS and Prix Italia-winning Sex Traffic, No Angels, Teachers, Pleasureland, As If, White Teeth and Second Generation.
As joint Head of Independent Drama, Lucy is jointly responsible for commissioning indies across the four BBC channels.
Current projects include Spooks, Rome, Hustle, New Tricks, Bodies and the forthcoming The Street, Sweeney Todd, Hotel Babylon, Waterloo Road and Robin Hood.
Lucy joined La Plante Productions as a Script Editor in 1996, where she worked on the first series of Trial and Retribution, later moving to the BBC in 1997 as Head of Development, then Executive Producer on dramas including In A Land of Plenty, Playing The Field, Clocking Off and The Cops.
After a three-year stint at the BBC, Lucy moved to Tiger Aspect as Executive Producer on ITV1's My Fragile Heart.
