Willie Carson is a co-presenter of the BBC’s horse-racing coverage, along with Clare Balding.
Born in Stirling in 1942, Willie was definitely the punter's pal as he gave all horses a ride. He won five UK jockeys championships (1972, 1973, 1978, 1980 and 1983), 17 UK classic races, had 23 centuries and a total of 3,828 wins in the UK.
At the racecourse, Willie splits his time between commentating for the BBC and being European racing manager for the Thoroughbred Corporation, and at home he runs his Minster House Stud.
