Nick’s journalism career began in local newspapers with the Loughborough Trader and Loughborough Echo, before he joined the BBC in 1985. He worked first for BBC Radio Leicester and then BBC Radio Kent. In 1991, he moved to BBC Radio Sport, reporting for Radios 1, 2, 4 and Five Live. Nick first worked for BBC TV Sport in 2001.

 

Nick joined BBC Radio Sport as a producer looking after programmes such as Sport On 4 with Cliff Morgan, before moving into presentation and hosting shows including Sport On Five and Any Sporting Questions.

 

Nick was part of the radio team at the last three Rugby World Cups. His other commentary work includes the Boat Race, Wimbledon, football, London Marathon, Sydney Olympics, Manchester Commonwealth Games and Athens Olympics. He described the opening and closing ceremonies in Manchester and Athens.

 

For television, he began work for Rugby Special in 1995. He was the BBC’s first TV touchline reporter in the early years of Heineken Cup coverage, and moved into the commentary box as the legendary Bill McLaren was retiring. Other recent TV work includes hockey commentary at Athens Olympics and cycling and tennis at the Paralympics.
