Georgie Palmer presents the main weather forecasts on BBC One's regional news programme South Today and BBC local radio across the South region.
In addition to forecasting the weather, Georgie also reports on local events for South Today's Going Out series.
A self-confessed "weather-geek", Georgie has been presenting the weather for the BBC since September 2006.
She finds understanding weather patterns, both close to home and around the world, continues to keep her captivated everyday.
"Like most Brits, I'm obsessed with the weather, " she says. "I have meteorological books scattered all around my house and even my handbag! Whether I'm tapping my barometer every morning before I leave for work or looking up at the sky, I find the weather every day such a pleasure.
"Even on holiday I love watching the local news (whatever language) and seeing what's going on."
Born in south west London, Georgie has strong links with the South region – her father was born in Gosport and her paternal grandfather was Head of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors, based in Portsmouth.
She went to school in Reading where she was head girl of Queen Anne's School in Caversham although, she admits, most people who know her still don't believe that.
Initially she set out to follow her childhood dream of becoming a Blue Peter presenter but, after thinking that she was probably "too old and cheeky", she started out in the media industry by first becoming a researcher on LIVE TV's Fashion Show programme in1998.
Georgie then went on to work as a presenter and producer for numerous Sky and digital channels, including, most recently, London TV's entertainment and listings programme What's On.
Outside work, Georgie loves spending time with family and friends, surfing (her two surfboards are her prized possessions), cooking, travelling and brushing up on rusty language skills she first learnt whilst studying Spanish and French at the University of the West of England.
Her favourite pastime of all is swimming. She says: "For the last three years I've taken part in the British Heart Foundation's Bournemouth Pier to Pier swim. I'm already looking forward to next year's swim!"
