Kheredine Idessane was born in Edinburgh and educated at Stewarts Melville College, Cambridge University and the Oklahoma and Cardiff Schools of Journalism.
A talented sportsman, he achieved a Double Blue at Cambridge and was internationally capped in the 800 metres for Scotland.
He is also competent in a number of European languages.
In 1993, Kheredine began his broadcasting career as a BBC Regional News Trainee at BBC Scotland and progressed to sports reporting and presenting over a wide range of programmes.
Having worked initially as a football reporter – on programmes like Sportsound, Grandstand, Sportscene and Match Of The Day, including stints as a presenter for Sportsound and Ninety Minutes – Kheredine has since covered events such as the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
In February 2009 Kheredine became BBC Scotland's tennis reporter, with a brief to chart the continued rise of Andy Murray.
