Bill Whiteford has worked for the BBC for more than two decades now.
Before starting to read out loud for a living, in 2001, he was a news producer and, ultimately, Editor of Radio Scotland's Newsdrive.
How did he get there? Well, born in Glasgow, secondary school in Aberdeen and university in Edinburgh (English Literature and Language, since you ask).
Then reporting for papers and commercial radio in Aberdeen, Elgin, and Dundee.
He lives in UFO country around Bonnybridge.
With three children between four and 13, home life is busy, but Bill finds time for old motorbikes, running and hillwalking.
