Simon Mayo presents BBC Radio 5 Live's afternoon radio show from 1.00 to 4.00pm, Mondays to Fridays.
Simon joined 5 Live in May 2001 after a successful 15-year career on BBC Radio 1.
Early in his time on 5 Live he was on air when the 9/11 tragedy unfolded.
In 2009 Simon was recognised with a Gold Speech Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards with film critic, and his Friday radio movie partner, Mark Kermode.
In 2008 Simon was the recipient of the Radio Broadcaster of the Year award at the annual Broadcasting Press Guild Awards and also picked up the Gold Sony Speech Broadcaster of the Year Award.
Famous for a succesful career on Radio 1 in the Eighties and Nineties, including hosting the breakfast show, Simon's TV work includes presenting Top Of The Pops, the dilemma show Scruples and live Academy Award nominations for the BBC News channel.
He also presents Act Your Age, a comedy panel show for BBC Radio 4, and has a regular TV slot on BBC Two's The Culture Show, with Mark Kermode, reviewing movies.
Simon will present BBC Radio 2's weekday Drivetime show from January 2010 but will continue to present an extended film slot with Mark Kermode on Fridays (2.00-4.00pm) on Radio 5 Live.
