Shelagh Fogarty joined the weekday Breakfast on BBC Radio 5 Live alongside Nicky Campbell in January 2004, having previously presented Weekend Breakfast with Brian Alexander.

 

Shelagh was educated at St John Bosco Grammar School in Croxteth, Liverpool and took an Honours degree in Foreign Languages from Durham University, before joining the BBC as a trainee reporter in 1989.

 

Shelagh moved into national radio in 1994 working for BBC Radio 4, including The World At One and PM.

 

Previously she worked in regional television in Manchester and local radio including BBC Radios Humberside, Guernsey, Sheffield, Bristol and Merseyside.

 

Shelagh started presenting on 5 Live in 1999 and has presented many programmes including Euronews, Drive, Breakfast, Late Night Live and Sunday Service.

 

Bob Shennan, Controller of Radio 5 Live, said when she joined the Breakfast programme: "Shelagh is a fantastic addition to Breakfast and complements Nicky perfectly."
