Rugby World Cup winner Matt Dawson is a rugby presenter for BBC Radio 5 Live, and is a team captain on A Question Of Sport for BBC One.

Former rugby union international Matt is England's most capped scrum-half, winning 77 caps for his country, including nine as captain.

He started his rugby playing career in 1991 with Northampton and gained his England debut against Western Samoa at Twickenham in December 1995.

As a youngster Matt was an all-round sportsman. He was wicket keeper for Buckinghamshire schools and played football for Chelsea Schoolboys at under 13/14 level.

But when Matt moved from Marlow to Northampton he turned to rugby. After Northampton, Matt played for London Wasps and retired from professional rugby in 2006.

Since then he has been a regular on BBC television and radio, and has endeared himself to the wider public through his win on Celebrity Masterchef and as runner up on Strictly Come Dancing 2006.

Matt Dawson was born in 1972 in Birkenhead and now lives in London.
