Cornelius Lysaght is BBC Radio's racing correspondent.
Cornelius began his media career in 1981 as a news and sports reporter at Severn Sound Radio in Gloucester and Southern Sound, Brighton, before specialising in horse-racing as a producer/presenter with the Racecall telephone commentary service.
He joined BBC Radio in 1990 and succeeded the long-serving Peter Bromley as racing correspondent in 2001, leading the network's racing team to a Gold Award at the prestigious Sony Awards a year later.
As a writer, Cornelius has worked for Horse And Hound magazine, The Sunday Mirror, The Times and The Guardian.
He is now a columnist for bbc.co.uk/racing and Owner/Breeder magazine.
Cornelius was raised in Herefordshire and was educated at Eton. He lists Musselburgh and Perth as his favourite racetracks and has enjoyed some success as a racehorse owner.
Away from racing, he follows Everton FC.
He is proud to have been hailed as "a cult figure" in the late Nineties when appearing on BBC Radio 1 as the voice of Mark and Lard's popular afternoon competition Dobbins Or Bobbins.
