Arlo White is a sport broadcaster on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Arlo was born in 1973 and went to Winstanley High School and Bosworth College.

He studied at University of Derby between 1992 and 1995 where he was also the second XI football manager.

He became a fully qualified FA Coach and coached football for Major League Soccer in the USA in 1996.

Arlo was then a salesman for three years, selling into the sign-making market, but did not enjoy it and spent most of each day listening to 5 Live or Test Match Special in the car.

Arlo harboured a burning ambition from the age of seven to be a sports broadcaster and was given a chance to do local non-league football by Colin Gibson at BBC Radio Derby in 1998.

He then went travelling with his now-wife Lizi and lived in Sydney for almost a year. It was there that he accumulated much of his sport experience.

He wrote for two football magazines, two websites, and eventually had his own show on local radio called Soccer Saturday.

On his return Arlo got a job at Sportinglife.com in Leeds, but two weeks into that he was offered a broadcaster's position at BBC Sport and 5 Live.

His first ever bulletin was into Nicky Campbell's programme in April 2001.

It was a success and on top of his sport bulletins he was soon on-air answering questions from Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music!

He lists his top 10 highlights so far:

1) England's Cricket tour of Pakistan in 2005 where he made his debut on Test Match Special

2) 5 Live reporter/Breakfast sports desks from the Cricket World Cup in South Africa 2003

3) Boundary reporter for 5 Live's coverage of the fifth Ashes Test match at the Oval in 2005

4) 5 Live reporter/Breakfast sports desks at 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, including the final of the men's four rowing

5) The Twenty20 Cricket finals days as a commentator and reporter

6) Commonwealth Games, Melbourne 2006

7) Superbowl 39 (Jacksonville) and 40 (Detroit) as a match commentator for 5 Live

8) Rugby Union Six Nations 2006 as a presenter for Radio 4 LW from Rome and Dublin

9) Breakfast sports guy from 2002 to 2006

10) Presented Sunday Sport on 5 in summer 2005 as well as spells on Midweek Sport on 5 for the past three summers.

Married to Lizi, Arlo lives in Hertfordshire.
