Alastair Eykyn is a commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live. He specialises in rugby and tennis, but also covers cricket and hockey.
Alastair was born in 1974 in the Cotswolds. He graduated from Oxford University (St Edmund Hall) in Modern History, before completing a one-year Broadcast Journalism diploma at City University in London.
His first job was with Independent Radio News, where he worked on news for 18 months before moving to the sports desk to cover rugby and cricket, including tours to South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, along with the 1999 Rugby and Cricket World Cups.
Alastair continued to cover rugby when he joined Radio 5 Live in April 2002, and he has also been commentating at the tennis Grand Slams for four years. He has covered hockey at the Athens Olympics and the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne for the network.
Outside work, Alastair loves playing tennis and cricket and is married with two children.
