Bolton lass Sara Cox joined BBC Radio 1 in 1999 and is now standing in for Jo Whiley every weekday from 10.00am to 1.00pm until early 2009.
First off at Radio 1 Sara co-presented a lunchtime show with Emma B.
She went on to launch the Sunday Surgery, where she and the team reeled in a Sony Gold award.
Sara earned her stripes presenting the breakfast show before doing a stint hosting drivetime.
Despite her self-confessed "knock knees", Sara left school with four A-levels for a career in modelling. That's how she was first scouted for television, by the producers behind The Girlie Show in 1994.
Since that first TV job, she's been all over the telly – including showjumping show Only Fools On Horses, Top Of The Pops, MTV, Channel 4's The Big Breakfast and, most recently, The Album Chart Show on Channel 4's 4Music strand.
Sara has fronted a number of Radio 1 live events and broadcasts from Ibiza, Glastonbury, the Radio 1 Love Parade and, most recently, Bestival from the Isle Of Wight.
Smash Hits and The Sun have both given her a best DJ award.
Sara is a mum to Lola Anne and baby Isaac.
In early 2009, Sara will return to Sundays, 10.00am to 1.00pm, on Radio 1.
