Chris Moyles

Radio 1 presenter

The award-winning Chris Moyles hosts BBC Radio 1's breakfast show weekdays, from 6.30 to 10.00am.

Chris, self-styled "Saviour" of Radio 1, began presenting the Breakfast Show in January 2004 and his show is enjoyed by over seven million listeners every week. Renowned for his outspoken, honest style and wit Chris has become part of the fabric of the nation.

In 2009 Chris received a Sony Award nomination for the Breakfast Show. At the Sony Awards in 2008, Chris won a Gold for the Breakfast Show and in 2006 he claimed the Sony for Best Entertainment.

Alongside Chris are his team – Comedy Dave, Producers' Rachel and Aled, Newsreader Dom and Carrie who does the Sport.

Chris's show attracts big celebrity guests – from Will Smith and Kiefer Sutherland to Noel Gallagher, Chris Martin and Take That.

With regular features like Cheggars' Pop Quiz, Rob DJ's Pub Quiz, Tedious Link and the Golden Hour together with Chris's rants about life and the hilarious song parodies, the programme shows no signs of slowing down! In October 2007, the show even got an extra 30-minutes by moving its start time to 6.30am.

In the last year Chris has brought his show live from Los Angeles and has been out and about in the UK hosting his special Karaoke nights. For Comic Relief in 2007, Chris and the team embarked on Rallyoke – travelling around the country to host celeb-packed karaoke gigs, raising more than £740,000 for the charity.

In early 2009, Chris took on a new challenge for Comic Relief and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro – joined by other celebrities, including Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole, they raised over £3.5million.

Before starting on Breakfast Chris presented Radio 1's late afternoon show for five years. He moved to this slot from the early-morning show, where he had spent his first 15 months after joining the network in July 1997. In 1998 after only nine months at Radio 1, he won the Silver Sony Radio Award for DJ of the Year.

Chris was at Capital FM before coming to the attention of Radio 1 bosses and has also had stints at other local commercial radio stations and Radio Luxembourg. He started his radio career at the age of 16 on Aire FM.

Chris has made numerous TV appearances and in 2002 he hosted Live With Chris Moyles for Channel 5 and The Chris Moyles Show for UK Play from 1999 to 2000.

Chris is currently hosting the Chris Moyles Quiz Night on Channel 4.

Chris has penned two best-selling books about his life and career.
